- After a lot of prayer and working on mom and dad by the kids, the Lord has softened our hearts and we have decided to re-enter the world of Dog ownership. Mom did a lot of internet research and settled on a Tri-Color English Springer Spaniel. We were blessed to locate a wonderful kennel in Roberts Wisconsin (Kinni River Springers) where we purchased our new dog on September 20th 2008. He is already fitting well into our family and we all adore him. We had a VERY difficult time naming him and spent quite a bit of time brainstorming names. We finally narrowed it down to our top 3 (Cody, Shiloh, and Winston) after a vote, the top candidate was Cody.
- All of Cody's time is spare and he enjoys:
- Playing with the family and now Libby
- Eating
- Sleeping
- Investigating things around the house and yard
- Shortly before Christmas, Dawn and Sarah started getting the bug to get a "little" dog. They had both agreed that they wanted a Yorkie. They began researching and the more they looked, the more excited they all got. The day after Christmas, they came across a breeder near Delhi Iowa (Sands Enterpriese) and we went to see the puppies on the 26th. After much struggle to determine which puppy to bring home, we narrowed it down to one dog we all liked, but Sarah had her eyes on a different one. Dad and mom finally agreed that it might be best to have 2 puppies so they could keep each other company. So we ended up picking both. Mom named her dog Mocha and Sarah named hers Princess.
- Mocha and Princess spend all of their time:
- Playing with the family and each other
- Eating
- Sleeping
- Investigating things around the house
- We are working to get them used to the "big" dogs but they are still a bit intimidated
- While mom and the kids were at the vets taking the little dogs in for their first visit, Anna spied a sign that said "free English Springer Spaniel" on the wall. When they got home, they told dad and so he did some investigation and found out that a wonderful family in Cedar Rapids had a beautiful puppy just about Cody's age that they wanted to place in the right home. Dad decided that after seeing how well the Yorkies play together that Cody should have a playmate as well. The family jumped in the car to go see the puppy. We met the mother of the family at her home and she told us that they had gotten very busy and did not feel that Sibby-Libby was getting enough play time outside. It was very obvious that she was much loved and that it was a VERY hard decision for them to give her up. We both agreed that this was God ordained. After loading up Sibby's stuff, we had a family picture taken and then headed for home. On they way home, we decided to use Libby for her name since the family had used both Sibby and Libby. We really liked Libby since it is short for Elizabeth which is a Hebrew name that means "Gods Promise" and we really felt that God had brought her into our life. She is an awesome dog and is so gentle and loving. She has been a great influence on Cody and the two of them love to play in the yard and run around outside with the kids. We plan to train both Libby and Cody to be hunting dogs and we believe they are going to make a "killer" team!
- All of Libby's time is spare and she enjoys:
- Playing with the family and now Cody
- Eating
- Sleeping
- Investigating things around the house and yard
- Libby really enjoys running the trails through the woods with Cody and the family!
- She also enjoys laying around with the family as we have a family movie night with lots of belly rubs and cuddle time

Dawn:
- I am retired from a management position at MCI Worldcom as I have taken a promotion to become a full-time Mother!!
- In my spare time I enjoy:
- Playing with my children
- Attending Church (Spirit of Faith Family Church) where I am the coordinator over the programs for children from birth through kindergarten. We are a family oriented church alive and serving Christ, we pride ourselves on having something for everyone in the family. Please come check us out!!!
- Directing and Acting in plays at Starlighters II Theater
- Reading fiction
- Writing fiction and poetry
- Spending any sort of time on the "water" I can
- My latest hobby has been getting licensed to substitute teach. I am really enjoying this opportunity to get back into the classroom
- Although I have never been a computer geek, I have become very proficient at using the web. I have never had major issues with computers, just don't have the same joy of computing that the rest of the family has. However, I have appreciated the good things on the internet and my ability to do research from the comfort of my home. I guess my appreciation for computers and computing is rising, but I will never reach the geek level
Anna:
- I am in Sixth/Seventh grade and I love school (it doesn't hurt that I am very smart). I attend Saint Patrick's Catholic School and my teachers name is Mrs Morrison. I take Math (7th grade w/Mr. Michaels) and Band at the Anamosa Middle School and I am doing 7th grade reading and spelling at St. Pats.
- In my spare time and I enjoy:
- Playing with my new dog Cody!
- Playing with my mom, dad, brother and sister, games games, and more games!!! I love board games, card games, electronic games, any games! I like puzzles and enjoy working with others to put the pieces together.
- Going to Heir Force at my church Spirit of Faith Family Church
- Going to my grandpa and grandmas houses
- Reading (I am a very good reader), Math & Sceince
- I am really getting to know my bible well and I write all my memory verses in the back
- I am a very spiritual person and I love the Lord Jesus and I spread his love wherever I go. I am extremely sensitive to the needs of others and am a very loving caring child of God.
- My favorite memory verse is: Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!"
- I am quite the artist and love to work with scissors, markers, glue, glitter, stickers, paint, beads, string, you name it, I will make art with it!
- I am quite computer savy and do a bit of the IT support at my school. I have a Mac laptop and I enjoy using it to surf, keep up with friends on email, and write stories as well as playiing games and with my webkinz
- I like to watch Narnia, Sponge Bob and I enjoy everything High School Musical
- I also greatly enjoy helping my dad and mom with cooking and fixing stuff around the house
Ryan:
- I am in Forth Grade and I love school too (I am also very smart). I attend Saint Patrick's Catholic School and my teachers name is Ms. Gansen and she is a great teacher! She is new to St. Pats this year and we all really like her.
- In my spare time and I enjoy:
- Animals Animals Animals, and anything related to Animals or to hunting and the outdoors
- Playing with my new hunting dog Cody
- Playing with my mom, dad, and sisters
- Going to church (Spirit of Faith Family Church), especially being in FaithRacers!
- Going to my grandpa and grandmas houses. I love to cook and eat and I especially love to cook brownies with my Grandma Suzanne. Then, of course, I love to eat them...UMMMMM UMMMM GOOD!
- Playing with my Cars, Dinosaurs, and Farm toys
- I really like any Animals so of course I love going to Zoos
- I enjoy playing on the computer and searching the web for animals and hunting stuff as well as playing with my Webkinz
- I also enjoy drawing, especially drawing animals and hunting scenes
- Even though I love animals, I also love hunting too, not to be cruel, but for food, clothing and to keep the circle of life in balance. I have not done much hunting and neither has my dad, but we are learning together!
- I enjoy watching any sort of huntiing movies
- I also really enjoyed the Narnia movie and like to watch it
- Of course I like to watch Animal Planet and any movies with animals in them
- My favorite bible verse is: 2 Tim 1:7 "God has not given me a spirit of fear...."
- I am a very good singer and I enjoy singing all the songs from my CD's
Sarah:
- I am in first grade at Saint Patrick's Catholic School. My teacher is Mrs. Ryan and she is awesome. I am learing how to read better this year and learing all kinds of new things in math, science and social studies. We have a lot of fun and I am learning new things every day.
- In my spare time and I enjoy:
- Playing with my mom, dad, sister and brother! I love to play babies, Barbie, and anything like that. I am totally a girlie girl and I love everything girl and pink. I like anything princess as well. I would wear a dress, jewelry and make-up 24 hours a day and 7 days a week if mom and dad would just let me.
- I love to play at grandpa and grandma's houses. I have my shopping grandma (Denise) and my cooking grandma (Suzanne). My granpas Marvin and Phil are always there to give me LOTS of LOVE! I do try to get over to my Grandma and Grandpa's houses as much as I can, but mom and dad make me go home before I am ready most all of the time.....UGGGGH...
- I love going to church (Spirit of Faith Family Church), and am really excited to be in the Faith Racers class this year. I am learning all kinds of stuff already
- My favorite bible verse is Psa 100:3 "God made us and we are his"
- I love to be OUTSIDE and FREE! I hate it when I have to go back inside or get put in my car seat after some free time!
- Independence is my middle name and I want to be a "Big Kid" so bad I can taste it. Having older siblings means I am always longing to be older myself so I can do all of the things they get to do
- I really love to cook and enjoy making things for anyone and everyone in the kitchen. I enjoy cooking with my dad especially.
- I also enjoy watching cookinng shows, particularily the food network and any of the Throw-Downs with Bobby flay. My secret desire is to do a Throw-Down with my dad against Bobby.
- I also like to play on my Mac. I love the computer learning games we have. I also love to play on Webkinz!
- I am a wonderful child and I have the most bubbly personality you can imagine. I am fun to be around and I truly shed the light of Jesus to everyone everywhere I go. As soon as you meet me you will want to cuddle (I have that affect on people)
